This Time Last Year…

Standard

It’s kinda funny, I guess, that my first “official” post on this blog is a little nostalgic.

Or maybe it isn’t.

Either way…looking at all these pictures of my friends, just one year younger than me, graduating, brings back some pretty fond memories.

Where was I a year ago?

To be honest, the things I have always remembered the most poignantly when looking back haven’t been the places I lived, the car I drove, the grade I was in, what age I was, or any other material thing…it has always been my closest relationships that define eras in my life.

And that is simply evidence of my deep need for close, stable relationships. Evidence of a God. Jesus.

There was really only one person that I was close to in my graduating class…at least, throughout my senior year…after I ruined lots of friendships the summer before. That statement simply drips with regret…maybe I should fix that later.

And although that same person is still in my life, only much, much closer, I don’t think either of us are in quite the same era that we were at that time. And I’m so thankful for that. What good would relationships be if they never grew? Dull and unsatisfying, to say the least.

But, now, since I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with him, I think that my concept of “eras” in my life may change. Perhaps drastically…perhaps not. But I’m excited. I feel like I’m growing up some more.

Hmm…this is not at all what I meant to write about. But I quite like it anyways.
